An undisputed leader in European golf, Colin Montgomerie topped the European Tour Order of Merit a record eight times throughout his career. Known affectionately to millions of golf fans around the world as ‘Monty,’ he has become one of the most popular British golfers of the modern times, claiming multiple tournament victories. Perhaps most impressive are his phenomenal performances in the Ryder Cup. He is considered one of the greatest Ryder Cup players of all time having never lost in a singles match against the Americans and in 2010 he captained the European side to a famous victory at Celtic Manor. His first victory on Tour came at The Portuguese Open in 1989 where he cruised to victory by a massive 11 shots. From there he continued to excel, winning the European Tour Order of Merit every year from 1993 to 1999 and has earned more prize money to date than any other British golfer. Montgomerie proved to be one of the most consistent golfers in the world during the 1990’s. In 1994 he reached the Top 10 in the World Rankings for the first time and spent almost 400 weeks there, reaching a career high of World Number 2. A record equalling year followed soon after when in 1999 he amassed five victories on Tour and did not finish outside of the Top 20 in any tournament in which he entered. He continued his winning streak into 2000 with victory at the Novotel Perrier Open De France before creating history with a third successive victory in the Volvo PGA Championship. Colin’s 2001 season started in the best possible manner with victory at the Ericsson Australian Masters and in 2002 Colin won his first title in Asia at The TCL Classic in China. Just a week later at the Volvo Masters, he secured his 27th European Title after agreeing to share the title with Bernhard Langer because of bad light.

The 1999 and 2002 Ryder Cup saw Colin lead from the front for the European team with his composure and experience evident throughout. However, arguably his greatest performance came in the 2004 Ryder Cup at Oakland Hills where he claimed the first point for the Europeans with partner Padraig Harrington before holing the vital winning putt in his singles match to give the Europeans one of their greatest triumphs over the USA.

In total, Montgomerie has had 39 tournament victories around the world with his last win coming at the 2006 'UBS Hong Kong Open'. He is one of the most recognisable sportsmen in game, as well as being a distinguished ambassador for Scottish, British and European golf.

His name is also synonymous with quality. An intelligent and articulate sportsmen and businessman Colin has a number of projects based around his own international network of companies. He works with a number of global business brands and corporate associations along with his management company IMG.

Despite his busy schedule, Colin is a devoted father of three and places his children as his highest priority. He also finds the time to support countless charitable and junior programmes, introducing many people to the game.
