The official press conference of Turkish Airlines Open 2019 was held at the Maxx Royal Belek Golf Resort with the attendance of H.E Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Turkey; Justin Rose, 2017-2018 winner of Turkish Airlines Open; Ahmet Ağaoğlu, President of the Turkish Golf Federation.
Speaking during the press conference, Minister of the Foreign Affairs of Republic of Turkey, H.E. Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu stated on the tournament; “We are proud to see our country’s leap forward in sports similar to all areas due to continued infrastructure works and support of our country’s national brands such as Turkish Airlines. The seventh Turkish Airlines Open of this year in Antalya, one of our country’s most important tourism centers, is one of the prime examples of this development. I extend my thanks to the Turkish Airlines for their great support in this and numerous other organizations that gained global renown. I also congratulate the Turkish Golf Federation and Montgomerie Maxx Royal for their efforts towards this event. I welcome all our dear guests that came from all over the world to this beautiful city of Antalya, my hometown, and wish success to all players.”
Two-time champion of the last two years’ Turkish Airlines Open, Justin Rose said; “It’s obviously a fun position to be in, to have the chance of winning three straight Turkish Airlines Opens, but it’s come about many wonderful experiences in Turkey dating back to 2012 when the best players in the world came here to play match play. Since then it’s been fantastic to see the tournament go from strength to strength... Having played well here I get a lot of support from the Turkish people here.”
President of Turkish Golf Federation, Ahmet Ağaoğlu stated the following on the tournament; "We are pleased to host the world's best golfers for the seventh time at the Turkish Airlines Open which is one of the major events of the European Tour. The tournament, which has become one of the favourites of European Tour players both by the quality of the organization and the warm atmosphere, is to be played once again at Montgomerie Maxx Royal after three years. I wish success to all players who will be participating at the Turkish Airlines Open and invite all golf lovers to witness this unique excitement.”
