Rain Interrupted Day at Montgomerie Maxx Royal

The third event of the European Tour Final Series, Turkish Airlines Open held at Montgomerie Maxx Royal turns into a thrilling event. The golfers started out on a cloudy morning at 07:30 am and were interrupted two times in the afternoon during the second round after the game was suspended due to heavy rain and lightning. The organisers announced that the game would continue at 14:40, however, the increase of wind caused the cancellation of day 2. Golfers will resume their spot on the course on Saturday at 08:00 am and complete the second round, moving on to the third round of the Turkish Airlines Open. There was plenty of good scoring before the game was suspended despite unfavourable weather conditions at Montgomerie Maxx Royal Belek.

IAN POULTER: STAR OF THE DAY

Englishman Ian Poulter took first place on the second day of the Turkish Airlines Open at Montgomerie Maxx Royal while none of the 78 golfers could complete the 18 holes. Completing the first day just one stroke behind the leader Miguel Angel Jimenez with -8, Poulter kept his pace during the second round. With no tournament championships in 2014, the experienced golfer scored a birdie on the fourth hole, where Jimenez had made a bogey, and took leading position. Poulter secured his position at hole 10 and 11 by scoring birdies. The Englishman encountered difficulty at the 12th hole due to strong wind but scored in the three putting greens, making the day’s lone bogey, completing the next hole making a birdie. Making four birdies and a bogey at 13 holes, Zimbabwean golfer Brenden De Jonge rose to second place at the end of the day with -10, just 3 shots behind Poulter. American Brooks Koepka scored -6 after 16 holes achieving the best score of the day and Australian Wade Ormsby scored -9, both sharing third place. Underperforming considering his perfect game on the first day, Miguel Angel Jimenez dropped down to fourth place with -8. Number 3 in the world Sergio Garcia carded 2-under but he is still in 56th place, while last year’s winner here in Belek, Frenchman Victor Dubuisson, remained 64th on the scoreboard with a total score of +2, playing -3 on day 2.

Numbers of Day 2
