With one day to go to Turkish Airlines Open at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal, a press conference was held with the participation of world no. 3 golfer Rory McIlroy at the host hotel Maxx Royal, after which Mehmet Ersoy, Chairman of Maxx Royal, presented a plaque to Ahmet Ağaoğlu, President of the Turkish Golf Federation, Ahmet Bolat, Vice President of Turkish Airlines, European Tour COO Keith Waters in commemoration of the three-year cooperation. Ersoy underlined the great publicity of the tournament for Turkey and thanked the Turkish Golf Federation, European Tour and Turkish Airlines officials.

“During the past two years Maxx Royal has welcomed the European Tour’s finest golfers to enjoy its fantastic facilities as one of the best hotels and player’s lounges on the tour. Thank you to Maxx Royal and his honourable Chairman. Finally special thanks to Rory McIlroy,” President of the Turkish Golf Federation Ahmet Ağaoğlu commented.

Ahmet Bolat, Vice President of Turkish Airlines said, “We are delighted to be able to commit to sponsoring this fantastic tournament over the last three years. Thanks to Mehmet Ersoy, Ahmet Ağaoğlu and Keith Waters for their efforts.”

Keith Waters, COO of the European Tour stated that, “Maxx Royal is a tremendous venue. The Maxx Royal team has hosted the tournament in a perfect way. Thanks for the cooperation.”

"I'm happy to be here and health-wise, I'm pretty much back to where I need to be. I've started to train the way I was before the injury again and I'm happy about that. This week is another opportunity to see where my game is, try to get into contention and try to win. I feel like it's been two steps forward and one step back since getting back from the injury, so I'm hoping this week will be a step forward. I've been struggling a bit with my putting. I've been working on routine and the mental approach to try and free myself up,” Rory answered when a journalist asked about his current form.

“Great hospitality, wonderful setting on the beach and great atmosphere here in Maxx Royal. I’m looking forward to playing on the course,” stated world no. 3 from Northern Ireland when asked about his impressions regarding the host venue and added: “I am happy to be back in Turkey after three years. The facilities are fantastic. I am very happy to be here. I hope I can play well here. At least I can play better then the last time I was here 2012.”
