Team THY 3 came out on top in opening day of Turkish Airlines Open Pro-Am

Following the Turkish Airlines Open Pro-Am Day’s play, the off-course action was equally as enjoyable as well as a prize-giving ceremony which saw the top four teams, Longest Drive and Nearest to the Pin winners presented with their prizes at the clubhouse.

It was team THY 3 who came out on top at the end of the day. Team THY 3 of Victor Ponta, Dinu-Michail Pescaiu, Barbaros Öktem and their pro, two time European Tour winner Eddie Pepperell scored -32 points to clinch victory.

They finished three points ahead of the second placed team, Team Cornelia who finished the day on -29. The runners-up team was made up of Ryan Fox and three amateur players, Yavuz Üngör, Yavuz Küçük and Mitat Batır.

Third place went to the Team Spor Toto 2 who were joined by professional Matthias Schwab, as well as Mehmet Yavuz, Mehmet Önder, and Muhammet Demir with a score of -27 (back nine -18) while team Regnum Oleg Pukhov, Dmitriy Sokolnikov, Roman Zavyalov and their professional Martin Kaymer took the fourth spot.

Victor Ponta signed the Longest Drive on Hole 12 and Bogdan Jigman scored the Nearest to the Pin on Hole 8 with 1.68 m.

Ahmet Ağaoğlu, President of Turkish Golf Federation, Cahit Sahin, General Manager of Montgomerie Maxx Royal, Yunus Özleyen, Head of Global Sponsorships of Turkish Airlines and Miguel Viador, Tournament Director of Turkish Airlines Open presented the awards.
